Reproducibility is the major drawback of this book.

This is a good book for practical user who want to use R to do survey analysis. It's brief and not difficult to understand if the user have some background from Lohr (1999)' s Sampling: Design and Analysis. However the major drawback of this text is its reproducibility. The author did have a website for this text, but no any R codes in the text are provided. Even the data sets provided on the website are not complete. To reproduce the outputs of R, you have to either type R code by yourself or copy from e-book. Even the codes in the text are not complete and many cannot be run directly. I have gone through four chapters and have to spend much time doing reverse engineering to get the same results shown in the text. Still many I couldn't reproduce. This book is supposed to be a practical guide to the user, but I have to say this book is more like a semi-finished product.

Non-technical approach to Survey Data Management

I am actually a bit disappointed with this book. It briefly covers the concepts of the survey data management and gives a good, succinct introduction to R however it fails to explain the logic and statistical introduction to its associated R code. I was expecting in depth explanation for the statistical procedures where there is an example R code. The book failed to fulfil my hunger for that aspect. Nonetheless it will be an important part of my library as the number of books in the field that provides R examples are very limited.

It's a book for R's Survey package users

It's a book for R's Survey package users: for analizing complex surveys on R software.

I missed the formulas. I like to know how a specific variance is calculated and I was expecting to find out - for example - the variance formula used for calibrated totals on Survey's "calibrate" command. The next edition could have an appendix on this subject...

But the package is really great and it is good to have a book on how to use it.

As close to a How-To Guide as you're going to get.....

This book is pretty close to being a how to guide. Coach Gozansky has thought of just about everything that is relevant to running a good volleyball program. This is not to say that you need to follow the book word for word, but she has set out a lot of information on issues that most people would not have thought of when they start coaching.
The technical section of the skills and strategy are pretty reasonable. But since I am a believer in the nuances of the game, I can't abide by learning the game by the book. You really have to be a observer and a student of the game in order to gain the necessary nuances in order to be a good game coach. So I don't believe that any book on skill is ever adequate. However, everything else mentioned in this book is very good. This is a great reference book for someone who want to build a program, whether it is in the colleges or in high school. The information set forth are pragmatic and reasonable, the presentation clear and concise.
I would recommend this highly to any coach, including club coaches.

Predictable ending.

I received an advanced copy from the author for an honest review - this book moved Blake and Penny's story forward. Slight spoilers ahead - the first book in the series ended with Penny finding out some hurtful news and leaving Blake. The book picks up with him trying to reach out to her, and Penny refusing to contact him. They run into each other, and there are still sparks. Penny decides to exact revenge against Blake by using him. Only, she falls deeper in love, and never does anything drastic. Everything she used him for was stuff he would have already done, so I don't understand why he's so hurt, other than it's where the story had to go. There were parts of the the story that just don't jive with how the characters are described in other parts of the story. For instance, Blake is in control of everything - but he doesn't portray the confident powerful man at every turn. Penny is a senior in college studying coding - this makes her seem like she shold be a brainiac, but she doesn't come off as smart or confident. She was interviewing to be a perfume girl at a department store. It didn't appear that she tried millions of other tech places and this was a last resort, it just didn't feel like this part of the story was developed. But when Blake and Penny are together, its like they are different people then when they aren't with each other. the sex scenes have real spark, but there wasn't enough of them in this book. I'm curious how the next book will turn out, and hopefully give them their happy ever after. It's obvious they are better together, than apart.

Overall I enjoyed this book and thought it progressed the relationship nicely. I would have liked a little more steam but that's a personal preference. The writing was clearer than in the first book of the series which I greatly appreciated.

My biggest issue was that I didn't understand what the big deal was about her "using" him. All she did was get some towels and groceries, which wouldn't be out of the realm of reasonable behavior for any relationship. I also didn't understand the whole "becoming official" thing. Blake is a grown ass man. Would this really be happening? Maybe a talk about exclusivity, but not this huge drama and setup as though it were a proposal. I'm not sure what obstacle I would have preferred them to face, but I just kept groaning over the immaturity and complete lack of consequence of it all.

I generally like each character individually and enjoy that neither is a sad sack tortured soul. I'm looking forward to getting to their HEA in the next book.

Penelope and Blake's story continues with Seduced By You book two in the series. Penny is confused and hurt with the way Blake used her to protect himself. Blake desperately tries to reach out to Penny but she refuses to hear him out. Both decide to find someone to fill the void by finding someone on Blake's app. By chance or by fate, they end up at the same restaurant with their dates. As much as she wants him, Penny finds herself putting on a show for Blake to make him jealous. She finds herself drawn to him and follows him to the restrooms. Blake is waiting for her and offers her a proposition to dump her date and meet him at his apartment. The electricity that they have is still there and she can't fight the pull. Will they find their way back to each other, or are they doomed to fail again? Blake desperately wants her back and will do whatever it takes to achieve that. He knows that with her, he is a better man and likes the way he is when he's around her. When she shows up at his apartment, their reunion is sweet and solidifies his goal of keeping her around. Penny has other thoughts running through her head after their reunion and discussing it with her best-friend, Nicolette. Her friend suggests she do the same, and use Blake and let him feel the pain he caused her. Decisions, Decisions. What will Penny Do? Can she be that person? She desperately wants to be with Blake but she still needs him to understand the pain he caused her. What will happen when she drops the bomb that she exacted revenge on him, will he forgive her or will he drop her and run? Looking forward to book three in the series.

The AALL reformers were successful in some of their legislative campaigns, but failed in two of their most important ones, those for unemployment insurance and health insurance. In examining the obstacles that the reformers faced, David Moss highlights a variety of political and institutional constraints, including the constitutional doctrine of federalism and gender-biased judicial decisions.

The goal of the AALL reformers, Moss demonstrates, was not to relieve the poor, but rather to prevent workers and their families from falling into poverty as a result of accidents or illness. In favoring security over relief, economists in the progressive era defined and confirmed what has remained, for some eighty years, one of the essential values of American social policy. In concluding, Moss suggests that new policies may now be necessary in an economy in which falling wages and fewer jobs, rather than industrial hazards, are increasingly to blame for the precarious situation of the American worker.

Really good stuff

Living Daily With Adult ADD or ADHD: 365 Tips o the Day by Douglas A Puryear, MD is a self help book chalk full of tips and strategies to assist the adult with ADD/ADHD. It is written as a daily guide, a strategy for each and every day, one step at a time. Douglas Puryear uses simple English,no jargon, and he adds a touch of humor. He gives a very positive spin which allows a great deal of motivation to the reader.The tone is realistic and friendly. There are many helpful links and varying resources extending more information about ADD/ADHD. Since he is a doctor he adds a medical spin to his daily tips. As an adult with ADD he gives the reader, whether you have ADD or not, a clear cut picture of what it's like.

On a personal level I have worked with students over the course of my teaching career who have been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD and most frequently find them to struggle with simple organization, many times have horrendous handwriting, besides always being focused on something erroneous. They are the students who ask the completely off topic questions, carry the bag or binder with everything shoved inside it, seldom bring their materials to class, forget their homework and this list goes on. If you are a parent or adult working with these youngsters whom I just described than I highly recommend this book.

I found I use some of his strategies on a daily basis and I think many people do so I recommend this book to anyone especially those who are organizationally challenged or struggle with ADD/ADHD or some type of learning disability. This book really is good stuff!

I have read them all...this was BY FAR the best. The author, Dr Puryear knows what it is like to have ADD-he has lived with it....this book has become a bit of a friend. The book is broken into short daily chapters-just the way we ADDers like it.

I enjoy this book because you can open any page any day and you will find something you can relate to and work on-or not-

love love love the kindness, humor and understanding this book was written with. I keep it on my kindle and just open and read whenever I end up waiting in the dr's office etc....unlike most novels you read and put on the shelf-this book has paid for itself many times over....will continue to keep up with Dr Puryear

This is a great book for adults w/ADD. It gives you practical daily tips to help manage your life with ADD and gives you easy to understand explanations about why our minds work differently. I find myself forwarding the daily tips to my husband to help him understand my way of thinking.

Sick of a seeing a religous,sad Jesus, then read this

This book cuts to the religous bone of who Jesus is. I have been to Rodney Howard Brownes meetings and the book is written exactly how he preaches. I only wish I had read this when I was a young christian instead of having a religous Son of God portrayed that was ready to condemm you at every wrong move. If you want a revitalisation,and a book thats very easy to read, plus the Gospels thrown in for good measure then I highly recommend this book

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone. For The spirit filled Christian, It is a blessing. For the average Christian this book will encourage you to have a deeper relationship with God. And for the non Christian, it will present a non religious view of Jesus!! This book will show most people an intirely different point of view, and be a very positive life encouraging experience that can help in the world we live in.

In this book Rodney points out in order to stay under His Blood we need to daily testify to someone what Yeshua Jesus has done in our lives. This is something I will add to my walk, when I give my testimony to waiters and waitresses.

This book has the four Gospels in it, with 12 tag notes from Rodney, such as "Jesus, our Great Physician," and "Jesus, the Deity."

It's a gem to strengthen the anchor in your soul.
